Doing Dry July this year has a personal meaning for me.

I have done it in the past, with my main priority being the health benefits.  There is no doubt that not drinking for an extended period of time has many positives, including increased energy levels, less brain fog, better hydration and more even blood sugar levels.  Mood levels also stabilize, due to not having the “lows” we have after our alcohol “high”.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a few wines as...

I have always had a fascination in food and it’s role on our health.  Being a very active person, I know when I eat good quality, healthy food, my body performs best.  When I eat badly (processed junk food), I lack energy and struggle to exercise at my peak.  This includes how well I am hydrated.

I think this is something we can all agree on.  We are what we eat.

Interestingly, I came home one afternoon recently to a television show called Superfood...

It seems like it has been so long since adding to this blog. I decided to take a break, to reduce stress and focus on my recovery. The newsletter and blog has

It’s Christmas time again, my favourite time of the year!

My family is under the same roof again, the stress of the school year is over, Santa is getting ready to make an appearance, Christmas carols are playing, everyone is happy and excited about what is to come.  The best time of the year for sure!

Life has changed a lot since this time last year.  More importantly, I have changed a lot.  My attitude to what I think is important, how I treat myself and how...

My last blog post was about listening to your body, identifying stress levels, and acting on this by taking better care of yourself.

You may not have a stressful job, or personal problems that are causing you everyday stress.  Stress can come in many forms.

A common form is overtraining.

We hear in the media about the importance of exercising every day, and I would also recommend being active as part of developing healthy habits, but what type of exercise are...

Is stress affecting your body?

That is a loaded question!  I would guarantee that stress affects everybody in some way.  But how little or how much is the important question.

We all need stress.  It is a normal human response that keeps our hormones and emotions working.  We have all heard of fight or flight.  One or the other is our natural response when something stressful happens to us.  We choose to stand up to it and deal with it, or we choose to ru...

Yay!  We’ve all been waiting for it, and finally it is here!  Spring has sprung, the sun is shining, the world is good again!

We made it!

So to keep the happy, active, positive vibes going I thought I’d share my tips to keep building healthy habits.  Choosing just one of the following items is progress to creating a happier, healthier you!

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day.  Whatever goal you want to achieve, to do it well and to stick at it, you need...

It is the end of July, we are well and truly deep into the middle of winter, and we live in Tasmania.  While I love living here, the winters are so long and cold!

I start to struggle in July.  I am less motivated, less cheerful and find it hard to get out of bed in the morning.  I am thinking about the time I can get into bed at the end of the day so that I can be warm again!

I talk to a lot of people throughout the day, either in the shop or at the gym....

Isn’t that the saying?

I think this blog post is more for me this month, but hopefully it will resonate with a reader out there, and push you down a better path too.

I have always been a “dream big girl”.  No matter what I’m doing, I’m never happy until I’ve pushed myself to the top of the pile, become the best I can become in whatever I am doing.  Because if you don’t have a dream or a goal, where do you get your motivation?  How do you get that elated feeli...

Life is busy!  It most definitely is for me.  I run businesses, I teach classes, I have a family I try to spend as much time with as I can.  Sometimes the household is run by me, sometimes not.

It just seems to be the way of the world today.  We take on so many roles in society, we sometimes lose ourselves or the reason for doing what we do.

Sometimes we have to stop, and work out what we want for ourselves, by looking at “why” we do what we do.
